We have decided to manually renew the licenses as the on-line system thru Cycling Ireland isn’t up and running yet. If you have not filled in a form for a license, you must do this and post it to Marty Rodgers. ALL members must do this, even if you had a license last year. If you have already filled in a form since the AGM and give it to Marty, then you’re ok. The form can be downloaded here.
All new members must provide photographic ID as well, existing members do not need to do this. We are intending in doing this in batches, however the quicker you get them to Marty, the better. We’re aiming for the first batch to be sent off on the 18th Jan, so you need to get it to Marty before then. Also, if you can write a cheque for the appropirate license type (Make it out to Cycling Ireland). The fees are as follows:
|Full Competition – Junior||£45.00|
Marty’s address is:
25 Island Hill Manor
The fees above are outside the club affiliation fee (£10), which are payable separately directly to the club! If you’ve any questions, contact Marty for clarification!
The Wee Series MTB races came to a close on a rather frosty and cold aftermoon @ the Craigavon Lakes. Running over 8 laps of the course, Matthew Adair [Banbridge] took the race victory (And overall) ahead of Fred McSorley [Apollo] & Cathal Hendron [Apollo]. Fred & Cathal had a good tussle the whole length of the race, with Fred proving the victor on the last few laps. Unfortunately the turn out wasn’t the best [Owing to the cold weather I’m sure] however all competitors enjoyed the racing and the chance to stretch their legs outside the normal racing season, and your support is welcome from the Apollo team.
The underage events were well supported as well, with plenty of much and fun had by all! Unfortunately I don’t have the results as yet but I’ll try and get them up in the next few days. A big thanks must go to Derek for setting out the course and running the events, along with the marshals and sign on people (Who know who you are :)). Also, thanks Dromara for the race report & pics! Here’s the results of the total series:

Cycling Ireland are having a few issues with the license renewals, but hope to have all sorted before the end of the year. We have had confirmation that the club has been affiliated and the members will be sorted out shortly. We have a backup plan if need be but will update you before the end of the year if we need to implement it!
All of Apollo pass on their deepest sympathies to the members of the Gallagher family on the news that Cody, son of Stephen, passed away recently. Many members of Apollo know Stephen well and all of the family will be in our thoughts at this time.
There is a book of condolences setup by the Orchard Wheelers here.

For anyone renewing licenses, you only need to pay the £10 club fee at the moment. Once this is done, Marty will process your application renewal, you do not need to fill out a Cycling Ireland membership form if you already have a 2009 license! Once Cycling Ireland process the license, you will be able to pay CI directly yourself either by phone or via the website. This will take a few weeks as CI are currently upgrading their website. Marty will pass over the license number in due course.
For all new members, you will need to fill out a membership form and send it to the club secretary.The membership forms are available from the Joining Apollo page.
